'PlayStation Suite, an entirely new initiative from PlayStation that will provide fans with the opportunity to enjoy PlayStation content on an open operating system for the first time in PlayStation history. PlayStation Suite will work with Android based, “PlayStation Certified” portable devices –
including mobile phones, smart-phones, and tablet PCs – to offer “PlayStation quality” content to users worldwide. In addition to providing a selection of PS one Classics, we are also working with developers to create new and exciting content that will be available on both PlayStation Certified devices and the new NGP when it comes to market.'
The idea that the old game all get ported to Android really surprised me, it's like Sony have been burned by the PSP and now want to hedge their bets, but this will provide even more encouragement not to bother and just upgrade your phone?

Rumour - Sony's plan is to release cut down versions of games cheap into the Android space and then the games will entice you into buying a $300 hand held and $35 games.
Really? Do you think that will work or are we past the point where there is really that much of a difference in a player's mind? 1000 polys -> 10000, 480x854pixels->544x960 - is it worth it?

For that difference, probably not. But are the cut down versions going to be full-length, or will they be missing a few levels, and maybe the cutscenes and a feature or two? Might make more of a difference if you're effectively paying a fiver for half the game.

If it's true, they would have to seriously cut the game down. If android stuff is all selling for a $1 like on iphone and the PSP version is $35 then they could claim it's reasonable for the Android version to be a glorified demo.
rumour 2 - big developers will make AAA just for PSP and then make completely separate \\"mini-games\\" for the Android class devices as has been done already on X360/XBLA, that way they can sell for $1 and act as adverts for the real game. Indie developers will make the same game for both platforms, the PSP version will be higher res and use more texture memory and only cost a little more than on Android.

It's impressive, it isn't a million miles away from the Epic and Rage iphone demos though. There's rumoured to be a dual core iphone out this year with a quad core the year after. The PSP2 isn't coming until xmas I think, so they could have just a one year lead on Android/iphone.

Apple have made some amazing gadgets, but they really have a stranglehold on the market, hence the excessive prices that never seem to come down. The new version of Android has proper support for tablets (so how come there are already loads of Android tablets?), hopefully we'll get an ipad equivalent for $200 sometime soon?
p.s. why do I need to use Xcode and learn objectiveC just to make a Mac port - tsk! I think I'll have to make some time to try this out: http://www.phelios.com/ptk/ - its supposedly designed with simplicity in mind and supports win/mac/ios.
