Suspect I'm atypical, but:
Blue's news
Barrysworld might be worth a look. I'm out of touch but the guys that run it are 'old school' Quake types so they'd love Starscape - you could probably get a review or news mention without too much hassle. On the other hand, Barrysworld are now owned by GAME (so may be less interested since GAME don't sell it) and their raison d'etre is online multiplayer gaming. But if you could get a review there, it may propogate through to pay.game.net which may get some exposure to bricks-and-mortar game shoppers.
slashdot now have a games section, although it's not really off the ground and the audience has a fair linux tilt. If/when you get a linux port it could be worth a look. |

Might I recommend MegaTokyo? Piro could use a new ad or two and the game would definitely appeal to Largo Sensai's L334 5k1||z (leet skillz for the dood impared). You might want to try Little Gamers as well. If it's game related, they'll pimp it.

I hang out on Jolt IRC and their JK2 servers (because I'm the head JK2 public server admin )
www.jolt.co.uk
Biggest GSP in Europe, and they do advertising, but I don't know who you'd need to talk to. |

Avoid slashdot if you can.
Other places include
www.pvponline.com
www.fileplanet.com
When I think of a few others I'll put them up. |

Also, try on www.pcgamer.com . They have a top 50 demos section (Bottom of left column). Maybe you can get in there |

Dont Forget Penny Arcade. Gabe And Tycho may have their own problems, But they would more than happily blog you, and maybe even do a custom strip on it, More than likely. They're odd like that. (http://www.penny-arcade.com) It's also, to boot.. a good comic.
They do banners. and If they've actually played the game, they might even do a strip for it.. thereby promoting it more. those guys are *very strange* sometimes.. but still quite funny.
Also, check out www.RocketBoxComics.com, it's the "Joint Venture" between Inktank (where I Came from!) and a bunch of other comics. They also have banners, and may be more than happy to bust a groove on a banner. |

April 21st I believe is when Tycho posted a little note about Starscape.
Yup, just checked here's the bit, it wasn't much, but it caused me to look and eventually buy the game.

You know of Penny Arcade of course, since I first found out about Starscape from there. I also second adam in that I visit Home of the Underdogs quite frequently. |

www.gamespy.com basically fileplanet, but you might be able to get them to do a review, almost definite if you offered to send them the game for free...
everything else has been mentioned |

www.ign.com or www.redvsblue.com (which according to Alexa traffic has about as much, sometimes more than recently, traffic than Penny Arcade!) would be good sites to advertise on. |
