Ah yes, the programmable OLED keyboard.

To be honest, I'm not sure what's the point. If I use a particular application, I'm going to know the keyboard accelerators for that app. As with typing, looking down at the keys would probably do nothing but slow me down. It would be cool to have my keys change dynamically (If my keyboard could do a screensaver-esque light show, I may never do a single useful thing again), how is this supposed to help people be productive?

Also, I find the following amusing:

Quote:
Production schedule:
Beginning of December 2007—200 keyboards
End of December 2007—200 keyboards
January 2008—400 keyboards

So they're making a grand total of 400 keyboards a month? Even if nobody wants these things, they're gonna be rarer than the Wii.

And more expensive. At $1500 dollars is costs moar than most PCs.

But production will go up, cost will go down, imitators will move in, and by 2010 this will be about as common as tablet PCs.

I have to admit, I covet it like Gollum covets the 'one ring', but the price is indeed insane. I'm also not sure it's any good in reality - they were talking about the oleds not moving, and just having clear topped keys that slide up and down over the oled - pants!

Still, two usb slots and a card reader is great, plus it looks slick. Would be cool if all apps supported this kind of keyboard eventually. Imagine playing Mr. Robot and all the keys go black apart from the ones that function in the game, which show up with nice icons Smile

Imagine if all programs supported my keyboard (which until that thing comes out is probably the most complicated and needless keybaord available), the Logitech G15! Makes me want to to play around with SDK to see if I could get it to work in War Pong.

Imagine if Saitek provided a way for us to support their stupid keyboards so that Mr. Robot would work with them*

*instead their website recommends you disable part of the keyboard functionality to make it work with games !?!?!?!

Especially since the soap keyboard doesn't hog your CPU.

You didn't miss anything. I'm just old. Someone once (long time ago) commented about how the typical answers on a form poll are.

Very yes!
yes.
Neutral.
No.
Very no!
Huh?
and the joke answer.

the example for the joke answer was "soap tastes funny"
Since then my joke answers have always mentioned soap. Its like the discussion pod's version of Cowboy Neal.

Now am I the only one who remembers this?

I thought it meant: "My keyboard is **** and i dont care for new fancy stuff!" Which is accurate for me since my keyboard is rotting, keys are actually starting to fall apart so i have to take them off Laughing
