Don't you have more important things to do than correct strangers grammar online? |

I'll try and get the thread back on track
Just played through a section in HL2:E1 where Alex and I were trapped for 5mins waiting for something to happen so we could move on. I didn't have much ammo and head crab zombies were crawling out of the vents.
Pretty cliched idea really, i've seen the same thing in 50 games. Initially I thought "oh dear, this is bit predictable", but it was great.
Why?
1. Alex was only shooting at things I was lighting up with my torch.
2. The torch battery was constantly going flat and turning the lights out.
3. She would freak out every time it went dark.
4. She'd start screaming when it was dark and something grabbed her.
5. Some of the zombies carry grenades which glow in the dark.
6. Occasionally the torch would switch back on and it would be pointing right in her face and she'd grimace and cover her eyes.
I managed to connect with that scene far better than in most games. |

Just finished episode1, a few random observations:
1. quite short, perhaps too short for me
2. implements everything demo'd in lost coast, so it looks absolutely gorgeous (high def lighting, fantastic water). First time i've seen my cheap *** computer show slight signs of struggling.
3. most of the time you are working with Alex and it's the best team mate AI I've seen, really wonderful sense of her helping you. Every time i've seen this attempted before the AI was too dumb and they got in your way and you constantly had to guide them and stop them dying. Not so here.
4. The story didn't move forward significantly, it didn't really engage me. Perhaps they're planning hundreds of episodes and need to spread it out
5. There wasn't quite the same bombardment of new game play ideas compared to HL2, which is understandable. It's great run n'gun gaming, but it was starting to feel a little repetitive.
In a way, a tiny bit of the lustre is wearing off, but only a little. HL2 is still a fantastic game and I'd recommend anyone who has it to get HL2:E1. It was asking for a lot for it to match HL2, but it only just falls short. |

I'm not aware of Aussie English being different in this respect, but I don't think I've ever had to deal with that professionally, so I couldn't swear to it. | I don't think I should be beating a dead horse here, but I'll do it anyway. I'd just like to point out that the Macquarie dictionary (which is basically the definitive Australian dictionary) doesn't list it has for it's. |
