what games have really good music? and genre.
rez had some cool club music.
sentinel returns had some scary music by Jogn Carpenter.
world of warcraft has some epic music in the startup but in game it is bit bland but does the job. |

The Command and Conquer series has awesome soundtracks, apart from Tiberian Sun and Generals. And the original Doom has a great heavy metal soundtrack, it's a shame they used those old MIDI instruments or whatever they are. |

Hmm, off the top of my head, I enjoyed the creepy music used in the first X-COM game, and I also liked the music for the adventure game The Dig. |

Great thread idea.
Chaos Engine on the Amiga had great music, it shifted up a notch when you got to the end of a level. Simple idea but it worked.
The final closing tune to Monkey Island always makes me nostalgic too.
I often wake up with the music to Puzzle Bobble or Bomberman rolling around in my head, so god knows what my dreams are like... |

The various orchestral versions of the Final Fantasy songs
Homeworld (The song playing during the launch of the mothership here is Agnus Dei - by Samuel Barber. An original version of this song, Adagio for Strings, was played at the funerals of US Presidents John F. Kennedy and Franklin Delano Roosevelt) |

At the bottom of the page, there's an applet that lets you play music. Just scroll down a bit to C&C, and enjoy the tunes. |

In terms of indie games, I found that Flatspace had some excellent music. |
