Yes, Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One (fierce competition for longest game name between it Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie) is out and abusing PCs (Windows, Linux, Mac) and X360s everywhere with all its fruit **** goodness.
Did I buy it? You bet!
The story is funny (not quite laugh a minute, but laugh every two minutes at least). Of course that's to be expected when you make a game loosely based on a comic strip thats so damn funny. You'll find many references to the PA universe that are there for good measure, as well as plenty of new stuff to keep you laughing (I won't ruin it for you, I suck at retelling jokes). You don't have to be a fan of the comic to find it funny (it helps a lot, though), but when I think about it if you find the game funny you should be reading the comic.
The graphics, while by no means cutting edge are sharp, true to the comic and look great. The gameplay is all in 3D but the cutscenes are 2D animation (and they even manage to put your customised character in there).
Sound is probably the weak part, although it's not very weak... there's just not much really memorable. To keep it within size constrants (I'm presuming, anyway), there isn't much spoken dialog. There's a narrator (who sounds very good), but he's only heard during the starting tutorial and then occasionally as you go throughout the game. All other speech (including Gabe and Tycho's) is through comic speech bubbles. Most characters will make a grunt or two, but other than that... there's only so many times you can hear a Fruit **** squeaking as it "does its magic" to innocent citrus (or your leg).
Gameplay is obviously the most important part of a game, and luckily this doesn't disappoint. Most of the time you'll either be walking around the world looking for things to fight or fighting things. You control three characters during combat (you, Gabe, Tycho) and attacks are based on timers. Basically you can use items, then a normal attack, then a special attack (which involves minigame sort of thing, different for each character). Overall it's a lot of fun and there is a bit of strategy involved (do I go for a normal attack, wait for a special attack, or wait for everyone to get their special attacks and team up?), although fortunately not too hard (I'll admit thats my weak point... never make me play Ninja Gaiden). There are a few minigames, but they're not particularly complex and generally really easy.
Yes, unfortunately there is a bad part though... there's no multiplayer and practically no replayability to it, unless you want to start a new character and kick *** from the beginning. It's also more expensive than a lot of downloadable titles ($20US) and doesn't last as long as some other games. Is it worth it though? Yeah... it's a nice ride while it lasts (and its not like you can beat it in 2-3 hours, it's around 6-Cool.

I enjoyed the demo and I've added it to the end of my "to buy" list. I'm a fan of Penny Arcade so I found it very entertaining, I'm not so sure about non-fans getting it all. I noticed a few odd looks from friends who saw the fruit****** and had no idea what was going on "why are you fighting a bin?" being one comment Smile Still, worth a go of the demo though anyway.

It made me want to go back and flesh out the hacking in MrRobot, if only there were more hours in the day!

Definitely a good game, although my hatred for mimes has increased tenfold after playing it.

You do fight actual trash bins later on in the full version. Naturally, they are trash bins containing the discarded essence of evil.

I liked the first episode for the art and the humor and am looking forward to the next one. Episode 2 really could use some deeper gameplay and questing and puzzles since nothing in the first episode gets too complicated or challenging (beyond properly dodging the attacks of some of the later enemies).
