The weekend deal is 50% off Borderlands - $24.99 if you're in America, 60% more ($39.99) here in Australia. Seriously, what the eff? Over.

This weekend is a free weekend for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (if you're one of the three people on Earth who apparently don't have it by now) - multiplayer only, no single player. Free play starts Thursday afternoon (US time). If you want to buy it, wait until the weekend, I'll bet it'll be the weekend deal (33% off, if my guess pays off). Damn, Activision are cheaper than I thought (and I don't know how to describe how cheap I already thought they were while not making this an adults only forum) - it's 15% off. Makes it $76.49 here, $50.99 in less insane parts of the world (yes, it's 50% more for Australians - WHAT THE HELL DID WE DO TO DESERVE IT? THAT'S REALLY THE WAY TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO BUY YOUR GAMES), with that little of a saving and that insane of a difference in price just because it's one of the few games which doesn't get banned here (at least thats what it seems like these days) they've priced themselves out of a sale here. It's over. Get back to your lives, people.

Two midweek deals this week:
The Commandos Collection (with what a minute's reserch leads me to believe is the first four games, all over six years old... but I guess the ages doesn't matter if you like them) is $4.99.
The other is Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000 (worst rename ever, though at least it makes no effort to hide its age) for $1.99.
They're over!

I remember playing the first commandos game years ago, it is a really good hardcore strategy game. You have a small squad of commandos, each a hand picked unique specialist, you then direct exactly what each man does and where he goes to complete the mission. Like some kind of mind bending chess game. There's a lot of studying enemy guard's patrol routes and line of site and working out the right time to move your people into different positions. Make a mistake and you're dead. Very niche, but great stuff.

Two weekend deals:
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition is 50% off ($14.99).
Madballs in... Babo:Invasion is 75% off ($2.49). It's also free to play this weekend.
Both over.

And it's not a special, but buy Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse (the third season) before April 23 and get three items in Team Fortress 2: Max's severed head hat for all classes, Sam's revolver for the spy, and Max's pistol for the scout. Not that you should need those incentives, the Sam & Max games are the funniest games I've played in ages.Mmm, Max hat. Which you can't get any more.

The midweek special is Deus Ex games 75% off. $2.50 each or both for $5. Over.

Not sure when it finishes, but Trine is 75% off ($5). Finished too.

Obviously anyone not familiar with DeusEx should buy it immediately, it's a classic. The first non-linear fps? I wasn't convinced by InvisibleWar though.

The weekend deal is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, 50% off. $24.99 or $14.99 in less Australian-y parts of the world. Oops, this was over a while ago. I'm so lazy.

MW2 was too expensive, but so incredibly hyped I got CoD4 to check out what all the fuss was about. I liked it, but it felt a bit on rails. Very atmospheric though, definitely captures the feeling of chaos with bullets raining down and everyone screaming at you. Smile I'm glad to say I cannot confirm how realistic it is, but it would seem the most realistic war shooter I've seen. It didn't take long to complete either and normally that would be a compliment, but like Gears Of War this was over in about 5 hours or there about which seemed too short even for me! I suppose a lot of the meat is in the multi-player though and after getting my *** handed to me repeatedly I gave up on that Embarassed

I still vote for my number 1 war shooter - Operation Flashpoint.

I remember Commandos, cool game of tactics and strategy! But, as I get older, my memory starts to fade away, but I do remember getting behind Nazis and slashing their throats. I do recall better of the game called Commando, cool music, C64 ... I think I'm having an Alzheimer.

The weekend deal (what's left of it anyway, I'm slow sometimes) is the Codemasters Racing Pack, games are 75% off: DiRT ($2.50), DiRT 2 ($9.99), Fuel ($3.74), Grid ($6.24) and ToCA Race Driver 3 ($2.49), and the pack with all of them is $17.50. Finished.

Ouch ... just saw Trine trailer, that looks wonderful ... if that game costs $5, then we don't stand a chance ... is that game a result of an independent game development? Can't be ... and only $5 for such tremendous effort Sad

... and what's a "weekend deal"?

Firstly, that $5 price for Trine was a special (it was 75% off at the time).

Secondly, every weekend, Steam puts a game (or multiple games, or something) on special, but the deal is only valid for the weekend. Hence the "weekend deal". Recently they also started running specials during the middle of the week, as well - they REALLY want you to part with your money (and in my case, they're often successful).

hahahaha ... still $5 is just too low for such an effort. Did you buy it, is it as good as in the trailer?

Yes and yes, and you should too, on special or not.
