Actually, I just tried it... you can.

This weekend's deal is the X-COM Complete Pack for $4.99 (down from $14.99)

For the most part these games are a bit before my time (UFO Defense requires an 80386 or higher), so I can't really personally recommend them (if anyone else wants to do so, feel free).

Deal's over!

Anyone who can't recommend the first X-com game hasn't played it. I never felt that any of the later ones I tried were quite as good (although that doesn't mean they were bad, and I haven't tried them all), but the original is pure magic. (The first was released in various places - notably the UK - as "UFO: enemy unknown"; I'm not sure why they used different names in different English-speaking countries....)

XCom was fantastic (at the time). I add that caveat because sometimes things don't age too well i.e. a lot of really old games that were really good now seem brutally difficult and unforgiving or just simplistic. Elite's a good example, one of my favourite games of all time, but replaying it now it seems a bit dull and repetitive. Zelda link to the past was another, bought it using the Wii virtual console and felt very excited to relive a classic, but the level of dedication it demands isn't something I relish any more. I think part of it is my fault for growing up and part of it is gamings slow evolution.

While I agree that nastolga is retared. My first taste of xcom was a download from an abandonwhere website in the earley 2000s when I was 14-16 and could have been playing doom3 instead.

It HAS aged well. More complex than many games made today (shame) and while it can be burtaly unforgiving in difficulty, it is far from repetitive.

I was sad I couldent get it working on vista. I will have to try the steam version.

This weekend's deal is Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for $9.99 (50% off).

While it's not really my sort of shooter (give me anything by Valve!), it has its place.
Deal's over!

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Soulstorm is now $7.50 (down from $29.99), but don't ask me for how long. If you buy it (or preorder Dawn of War II through Steam), you'll get access the the DoW2 multiplayer beta (normal people get access in a week).

It's over!

This weekend's deal (though that Soulstorm deal is still active), is for Mount & Blade (don't worry, I haven't heard of it either) for $7.50 (75% off).

Deal's over!

It should be stated here that I don't pay much attention to things.
Edit: Just downloaded the demo... didn't like it too much... makes me want to play Oblivion.

This weekend's deal is 30% of all of Rockstar Games' games.
Which is why it makes me SO BLOODY ****** that the only one available in Australia is GTA4, of which the PC version doesn't exactly rate too highly.

For those fortunate enough not to live in backwards land (which is wherever Michael Atkinson resides, which is unfortunately here), there's a list at http://store.steampowered.com/search/?publisher=Rockstar%20Games.

Deal was over a day or two ago, I'm just lazy.
