I don't think I can embed a youtube video, but perhaps someone can edit it in?

Wow, this one's good. Sneak into banks, hotels, casinos. Steal everything. Get away. Well, that's the plan. Frequently everything goes wrong and it's a chaotic dash to get out of sight and into a safe hiding place, or to just finish things the messy way. And it's both single-player and multi-player co-op!

Screenshots can be initially a little off-putting. It looks very confusing and hectic, and the character art looks a little bit ugly at first, but you really need to see a video or play it to appreciate it. The in-game visual design communicates a lot of information very efficiently. There are question mark and exclamation mark markers to show when enemies are suspicious and when something (a noise, a ringing phone, an explosion, your blundering partners in crime) has attracted a guard's attention to an area. There are distinct icons to indicate all the objects you can interact with. Areas outside of your line of sight are shrouded \"fog of war\" style, but if you're explored them they also show a blueprint map of the level, including symbols to show the locations of any loot you haven't collected yet. Once you get a feel for the game it all makes sense. Also, the UI and menu art is really stylish.

The characters are all great fun. Each of the eight playable characters has a distinct special ability, and they all change the way that you approach levels radically. The locksmith can pick locks rapidly, so has an easy time moving through rooms quickly, and getting out before someone stumbles onto him. The cleaner can temporarily knock out any enemy he sneaks up on, making for a slightly more gung-ho approach. The lookout can tell where all enemies are even if she can't see them, but must play a stealthy game. The mole can knock down walls, which isn't remotely stealthy, but makes for a quick route in and out.

I've enjoyed playing it with friends. In single player you have a limited number of lives to complete each level, and if you die you can continue, but not with the character who died. In multiplayer when you die you stay dead until a friend revives you, but you can do this an unlimited number of times, at least until everyone dies. It's interesting that it seems to have a similar level of difficulty no matter how many people are playing, even though you play on the exact same levels. With just one or two players, you can play a very careful, stealthy game. With four players you are in constant crisis - running for cover as somebody trips an alarm, or trying to save a dead player before the guard comes back, or trying to duck out of the way as one of your friends comes screaming by, pursued by a mob of angry police. But both sides of the game are fun!

Buy this game. It's great.

(I've played the game on 360 and on PC with 360 controllers. I've not tried it with keyboard and mouse, or online. I've played about 3/4 of the levels single player and about 1/2 multi-player.)

It does look fantastic. I used to talk to the developer a lot. He put a lot of time and money into sophisticated 3D titles and struggled to get by. He made this, kind of like a quick weekend prototype bit of fun, but obviously nailed it and it's taken off massively. Feels like magic when that happens.
